The 2025 Homeless World Cup was hosted alongside The Salvation Army, our Member Country partner in Norway.
It was the second time the Norwegian capital has hosted the tournament and as in 2017 the football was played at the iconic Rådhusplassen (City Hall Square)
500 players representing 48 nations travelled to Norway’s capital city to attend the week-long tournament.
Alongside the action on the pitch, the Cities Ending Homelessness Forum was held across multiple days for the first time in the Forum’s history.
There were a total of eight trophies at the tournament: three for the Women’s competition and five for the Men’s. The Men’s Homeless World Cup and Women’s Homeless World Cup trophies are the top prizes, respectively.
History was made in Oslo as Uganda and Egypt became first-time Homeless World Cup champions, completing an African double triumph.
Uganda’s women ended Mexico’s bid for an eighth consecutive title with a stunning 6–0 victory in the final, inspired by a five-goal performance from Stella Namisango and heroic goalkeeping from Sharifa Kitali.

In the men’s final, Egypt powered past Portugal 4–3, with captain Mostafa “Sheka” Ismael and Taher Ayman Abdelaal leading the way to secure Africa’s first ever Men’s Homeless World Cup title.

On the eve of Finals Day at the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup, the Foundation announced that the 2026 Homeless World Cup will be held in Mexico City, marking the third time the tournament has been hosted in the Mexican capital following 2012 and 2018. Players and teams from around the world will once again gather at the iconic Zócalo, the city’s central plaza, for a global celebration of football that harnesses the sport’s power to create positive change and challenge perceptions of homelessness.
