HOST CITY REQUIREMENTS
-
An iconic location at the heart of the city is the ideal setting for the Homeless World Cup.
This can add to the overall atmosphere of the event, increase audience interaction, media presence and awareness of the tournament.
The site should be around 10,000 square metres of usable space (i.e. after street furniture, monuments and statues have been taken into account).
The Homeless World Cup Foundation can support you in finding the perfect place and balancing the use of space.
-
Working closely with the Homeless World Cup Foundation, the host city must identify the appropriate visa process for the teams and players and to support them with information and documentation before and during the event re applying for a Visa to be in the country for the tournament.
-
The host city will need to provide participants, staff, international volunteers and some local volunteers with accommodation, food and transport for the duration of the event period; i.e. from 2 days before competition commences until 1 day after it is completed.
-
The Host City will lead on all transport logistics across the event period, this will include from arrival points and to departure points, leisure activities and accommodation sites (if not within walking distance of the Venue)
-
The Communications Domain is responsible for telling the story: of the players, of the event and of the movement as a whole.
The Host City has to have the ability to successfully engage the local and national community, to build strong supportive and impactful relationships before and during the event.
The event offers the opportunity to change hearts and minds about the issue of homelessness; investment in smart marketing and communications by the Host City is required to achieve this.
-
A professional multimedia production company should be engaged by the Host City to generate event coverage and digital content strategies.
It is preferable to engage an organisation with a proven track record at the Homeless World Cup, which the Homeless World Cup Foundation can assist with.
The online and television broadcast of the event is important in maximising the impact and reach of the event.
-
The essential elements of the tournament are of course the 8 days of football but will also include the tournament draw, opening parade and opening ceremony, leisure and cultural programme for the players, closing ceremony and special awards.
