Masizakhe Myataza represented South Africa with Oasis at the Amsterdam 2015 Homeless World Cup.
We caught up with him more than ten years later to hear about how life had been since the tournament.
"Since 2015, my life has changed completely, after the tournament I was lucky enough to secure a professional contract in one of the top flight teams in South Africa. I'm really really grateful for the role that Oasis and the Homeless World Cup have played in my journey and the positive impact it had on my life. I hope they will be able to continue to do that for other people as well."
After leaving Amsterdam and returning to South Africa, Masizakhe secured a professional contract with TS Galaxy FC in South Africa’s top league. With the team he went on to win the Nedbank Cup, South Africa’s equivalent of the UK FA Cup.

A ten year professional career in South Africa’s top tier followed. Masizakhe retired in 2025 to become a coach. He is now coaching the next generation of players at one of the top football academies in South Africa.
The Homeless World Cup for so many players is just the beginning.
