Global DJ sensation, humanitarian and philanthropist Matoma will be at the Opening Ceremony of the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup in Oslo on Saturday 23rd August, marking an exciting cultural highlight for this year’s tournament.
The announcement signals a major coup for host nation Norway and proud host partner The Salvation Army, with Matoma’s presence set to inspiring players and fans in attendance before the first ball is kicked at the 20th edition of the Homeless World Cup, the second time Oslo has hosted the tournament.
Matoma’s involvement comes as part of his work with his One of a Million Foundation, and a collaboration with Turn The Tables – a Scottish-based social enterprise and charity that empowers people affected by homelessness through DJing and creative expression.

Together, the two organisations are teaming up with the Homeless World Cup Foundation and the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Local Organising Committee to spotlight music, creativity and global solidarity in the fight against homelessness.
Matoma’s commitment to philanthropy and social change is at the heart of his participation, reinforcing the event’s mission to inspire and unite communities across the world.
Matoma said:
“I am absolutely delighted to be attending such meaningful event in my home country. The Homeless World Cup is a powerful global movement, and I’m proud to introduce both my Foundation’s work and our incredible partnership with Turn The Tables to Oslo and the worldwide audience at such a fantastic sporting event.”
Turn The Tables has been a long-standing partner of the Homeless World Cup Foundation, having first teamed up with the Foundation at a tournament in Edinburgh in 2022. The Oslo collaboration takes the relationship to a new level.
Robbie from Turn The Tables said:
“We first partnered with the Homeless World Cup back in 2022 as two Scottish and Edinburgh-based organisations coming together for a tournament for the UK’s Home Nations. It’s a joy to now bring our work to Oslo in partnership with Matoma, who shares our belief in the power of creativity and community.
“We’re honoured to be part of this incredible tournament.”
Mel Young, President and Co-Founder of the Homeless World Cup, added:
“It’s fantastic to confirm that Matoma will be at the Opening Ceremony in Oslo. His One of a Million Foundation and Turn The Tables are working to eradicate poverty, homelessness and isolation – values that align exactly with our mission.
“This is a partnership made in heaven. Matoma’s presence on the Opening Day of our 20th Homeless World Cup will help us amplify our mission around the world.”
The Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup will see teams from 48 nations gather in the Norwegian capital for eight days of powerful football, stories of transformation, and a global call to end homelessness. The tournament runs from 23–30 August 2025, with all matches streamed globally via YouTube, FIFA+, and Eurovision Sport.
Knut Haugsvær, Project Lead at the Salvation Army and Oslo 2025 Local Organising Committee, said:
"Matoma’s attendance at the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup is a powerful reminder that music can be a force for good. His support brings hope, dignity, and unity to people facing tough challenges. We are deeply grateful for his heart, his voice, and his commitment to lifting others up.
