AFRICA FOCUS: Jersey2africa - Change does not happen alone
Change does not happen alone. It takes a team, moving together with a shared purpose, advancing one step at a time.
One such teammate involved with the Homeless World Cup Foundation ahead of this year’s Africa Women’s Cup in Nairobi, Kenya is Jersey2Africa (J2A).
J2A’s mission is clear and compelling: to positively impact young lives in Africa, both on and off the field, through the unifying power of football.
This mission aligns seamlessly with the values of the Homeless World Cup Foundation and the upcoming tournament the African Women’s Cup (AWC), and local partners like Vijana Amani Pamoja (VAP). Through these partnerships, J2A supports not just players, but people, helping them build confidence, community, and a deeper sense of purpose.

From providing jerseys and equipment to supporting programming that encourages leadership, inclusion, and teamwork, J2A’s involvement goes far beyond donations.
This year, that commitment is visible once again as Jersey2Africa provides unique and exclusive welcome bags made in Africa for all participants and volunteers at the 2025 African Women’s Cup in Nairobi.
With the Homeless World Cup and African Women’s Cup, Jersey2Africa helps bring visibility to players who are too often overlooked: young women, displaced youth, and individuals experiencing homelessness.
These tournaments do more than showcase talent; they tell a different story about what’s possible when people are seen, supported, and given the tools to grow. As J2A’s founder, Ricky Weir put it:
“To receive from others unconditionally can be both a blessing and a curse. To serve others unconditionally is a superpower, which unequivocally makes the world a better place both for yourself and for others. Which are you choosing to be?”
Jersey2Africa has chosen to serve. Its efforts may not always make headlines, but their impact is real and visible in every young person who pulls on a jersey and steps onto the field with confidence, dignity, and hope for something more.
