Eurovision Sport to stream Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup for global audiences
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has today announced a landmark agreement with the Homeless World Cup Foundation (HWCF) to stream the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup on Eurovision Sport, the EBU’s premier digital platform.
The event will take place in Oslo, Norway from 23–30 August 2025, bringing together 500 participants from 48 nations to compete in 4-a-side matches as part of this annual tournament aimed at promoting positive social change through football.
The tournament will be held at the iconic Rådhusplassen in Norway’s capital, which also served as the venue in 2017. This will be the 20th edition of the Homeless World Cup and the first time the tournament has been held in Europe since Cardiff in 2019.
Eurovision Sport will stream all matches taking place on the event’s main pitch globally, which will also feature live match commentary. In addition to live coverage, a wide range of supplementary content including player profiles, social stories, and behind-the-scenes features will be available to EBU Members via the EBU News Exchange, enhancing editorial coverage and audience engagement across Europe.
Mel Young, President of the Homeless World Cup Foundation, said:
“We’re thrilled to partner with Eurovision Sport to bring the Oslo 2025 Homeless World Cup into homes and hearts across Europe. Together, we can shine a light on how sport empowers those experiencing homelessness, helping to shift perceptions and support those in need.”
Alan Fagan, Managing Director, Eurovision Sport, said:
“We’re proud to play a part in bringing this tournament to fans across Europe and beyond, showcasing grassroots sport with global resonance, and building awareness for this inspirational event”
The first Homeless World Cup took place in Austria, in July 2003. Its mission is to use football to support and inspire people who are homeless to change their own lives, and to change perceptions and attitudes towards people who are experiencing homelessness.
Fans will be able to watch all the action live and free on Eurovision Sport from 23–30 August.
