Australian attitude wins final FIFPRO award of Oslo 2025

Team Australia has won hearts and minds since the moment they paraded their inflatable kangaroos down the streets of Oslo on opening day. The team’s unwavering good spirit and friendliness, maintained throughout the tournament, earned them the final FIFPRO Fair Play Award of this year’s Homeless World Cup.

The medals were handed to the team by Raymond Beaard of FIFPRO, who applauded Australia’s great sporting attitude, which was evident during all their games, right up until the last one on Finals Day.

In an exciting match against the Netherlands, both teams were giving it their all and plenty of goals were scored on both sides. Although the Dutch won the game, the Australians invited them in for a group huddle and started singing their “I am, you are, we are Australian” song, followed by “Netherlands, Netherlands!”. The Dutch, in return, sang back with broad smiles: “Australia, Australia!”

A spectator behind the goal witnessed the moment of friendship between the two teams and said what everyone pitch side was thinking: “This is what it is all about.”
