Let us introduce you to six finals at the Homeless World Cup
Boline Skovly
The Homeless World Cup has a tournament structure specially created for inclusion, specially created so that all nations play continually throughout the week. Today, Saturday, is the big final day - there will be all six finals. The winner of each final will be carrying home a trophy, all teams a plate for their world ranking, and all players a medal for participating, for being a winner.
We talked to Tournament Director, Max Wettendorff, who explained what the different trophies stand for: “The teams will be competing for the different trophies based on how they have performed in their matches during the week,” he says and continues, “Like this, the teams that haven’t qualified for the Homeless World Cup Trophy, will battle for one of the other trophies.”
Here are the names of the trophies listed in order.
Homeless World Cup Trophy: The ultimate trophy.
Copenhagen Trophy: Copenhagen is the host-city of this year’s Homeless World Cup.
Cape Town Trophy: Cape Town was host-city of Homeless World Cup 2006.
Hus Forbi Trophy: Hus Forbi is the name of a Danish homeless-magazine.
OMBOLD Trophy: OMBOLD arranges street-soccer in Denmark.
INSP Trophy: INSP is shortened for International Network of Street Papers.
