FareShare to shout lunch for 1300 people!

Posted on 20/08/2008

fair share logoFareShare is an innovative, energetic organisation which rescues food in order to fight hunger. Since 2001, FareShare has collected food donated by businesses, which would otherwise be wasted, turned that food into healthy, nutritious meals and then distributed them to the hungry and homeless in Victoria.

With the help of almost 900 volunteers, this small not-for-profit organisation managed to give away 430,000 meals in 2007. The passion and commitment of staff, volunteers and supporters allows FareShare to have a vision of giving away 2 million meals a year, made even easier by the fact that just a $10 donation provides 25 nutritious meals.

In partnership with the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup FareShare has agreed to provide over 1300 meal packs to players and volunteers on each day of competition. This donation ensures everyone involved in the event will be well-fed with healthy, nutritious meals while maintaining the energy levels of our players and staff.

We appreciate the support of FareShare in helping make the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup a great success!
