Majestic Brazil Ladies crowned Women's Champions
Moments of spellbinding football from Brazil is to much for Mexico as South Americans lift first Homeless World Cup trophy.
The magnificent number 8 of Brazil showed why she has been installed as captain by leading the way with the first goal in the opening seconds. Their second of the match came from their second shot as Mexico failed to match their hosts in the opening exhanges. This lead was doubled as the brazilian´s number 5 got a hatrick with two more goals coming from some fine intrepid play by their number 10.
Lucila Edna pulled one back for the Mexicans and it took a fantastic save from Brazil to keep their three goal lead intact. Mariel Merlin provided some wizardy to beat the keeper though as she curled in to give the Latin Americans hope. Mexico had truly found their form now and were controlling the match for long passages. There was no goal coming though as half time came around.
Mexico subbed their keeper and her first touch was brilliant as she kept out a long drive. Brazil's captain got her second soon enough though with an exquisite goal where she displayed classic Brazilian technique with a look up one way and a shot into the bottom corner the other. Mexico's captain Carina Robledo sent the crowd momentarily quiet but a double save from Brazil's number 1 was enough to get the spirits up again and it was from this break that Brazil got a sixth through their number 9, displaying classic Brazilian striking instincts to lash the ball into the bottom corner.
Substitute number 10 rounded off the scoring to seal victory for the Brazilian girls and send the crowd crazy. There was much dancing on the pitch afterwards as the band in the crowd struck up some Brazilian favourites.
The presentation will be later and the majority of Copacabana is hoping for a Brazlian double. The women have done their part and deservedly so.
