Street Soccer Scotland National League gets Underway

More than 300 players gathered yesterday for the official launch of the Street Soccer Scotland National League.

More than 300 players gathered yesterday for the official launch of the Street Soccer Scotland National League.

Street Soccer Scotland Chief Executive David Duke is joined at the launch by Celtic's Richie Towell and Rangers' Kyle Hutton.

Footballers from 40 teams across Scotland came together to celebrate the opening of the Street Soccer Scotland National League and to take part in a day-long cup tournament.

Two Scottish Premier League players - Kyle Hutton of Rangers and Celtic midfielder Richard Towell were on hand to promote the launch, which took place at the SoccerWorld indoor complex in Glasgow.

David Duke, Chief Executive of Street Soccer Scotland said: “The day has been a resounding success, and it’s fantastic to have the league underway. The Street Soccer Scotland National League will pull together projects, players and staff from across the country, working to support homeless and socially disadvantaged individuals in Scotland through football.”

Male and female players drawn from 60 teams participating in the Street Soccer Scotland National League will represent Scotland at the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup, taking place at Champ de Mars, Paris, France from 21-28 August 2011.
