The Big Issue Korea have picked the final eight players to represent their country at the 10th annual Homeless World Cup in Mexico City (Oct 6-14).
The lucky players are either vendors of the Big Issue Korea in Seoul or reside in one of the 13 homeless shelters across the city.
Team South Korea recently held a pre-tournament ceremony in which they played a friendly match against professional players at FC Seoul. Homeless team coach Hyunsung Jo said: “Playing football matches are about more than getting a trophy. Football can be life changing for the players.”
South Korea were drawn in group H alongside Brazil, Ghana, Netherlands, Namibia and Ivory Coast.
