Pre-tournament training starts for Mexico City...

20 September 2012

Costa Rica has chosen its team to travel to Mexico City for the Homeless World Cup (October 6-14). The lucky players are Guillermo Arias, Ariel Cabezas, Rene Artavia, Edwin Pizarro, Marco Chavarria, Juan Jose Rodriguez, Gerardo Ortega and Victor Daniel Chacon.

Our Costa Rican partner, Asociacion Escuchando Gente sin Hogar, works closely with the players, who are all at various stages of drug rehabilitation and currently live in sheltered accommodation.

Team Costa Rica made an impressive debut at the 2009 Milan Homeless World Cup, finishing in 14th place, and will make their fourth consecutive appearance at the Mexico City 2012 competition, kicking off in Group B alongside Argentina, Cambodia, Norway, Ireland and Slovenia.
