A squad of seven players has been chosen to represent Cambodia at the 2012 Homeless World Cup in Mexico City (October 6-14). The lucky players (pictured) are Sovannarith Keo (Cambodian Children's Fund), Sophea Pin (Cambodian Kids Foundation), Panong Kin (Cambodian Kids Foundation), Phi You Sin (Happy School), Sophondara Chan (Riverkids Foundation), Chhanna Oun (Cambodian Children's Fund), Chhun Malivy Lek (Riverkids Foundation).
Head coach Jimmy Campbell is working the lads hard every Saturday and Sunday in preparation for Cambodia's fifth appearance.
Fund raising is also gathering momentum, with the annual Charity Cup in May pulling in over US$3,000 for the Happy Football Cambodia Australia (HFCA) project, which works with disadvantaged teenage boys and girls in Cambodia through the medium of “the beautiful game.” In June, the second annual HFCA charity auction raised a further $4,000, and the HFCA would like to thank the management of Emaxx 4G and Paddy Rice Irish Sports Bar for all their support, as well as all the companies who donated items for the auction.
