After the great training session yesterday, Cantona paid a visit to the players’ lounge at the Dan Hostel so that they could ask him a few questions.
Two Foyer residents have been chosen to report on this year’s Homeless World football tournament in Copenhagen from 28 July to 5 August, thanks to funding from the electrical retailer dixons.co.uk. David Gillespie from Cumbernauld YMCA Foyer in Scotland and Natalie Jane Teese from Eastbourne Foyer will be traveling to Copenhagen to report for BBC Sport and the official Homeless World Cup website, capturing the life stories of people involved in the Homeless World Cup. David is currently undertaking a three year degree in Multimedia Studies and Natalie has just finished a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts and is currently applying to university. David and Natalie took part in a selection process open to young people living in all UK Foyers. Eight young people were shortlisted and took part in a selection day in London during July.

Mick Penner is the coach for the Irish Homeless World Cup team. I heard so much about him so I had to check him out. Here is what he had to say:

Day 2 in sunny one minute, rainy the next Copenhagen. But the rain hasn’t dampened anyone’s spirits. The morning started with a press conference attended by Mel Young (Founder of the Homeless World Cup), Mikkel Warming (Mayor of Copenhagen), and Charlotte Williams (Deputy Mayor of Cape Town).

The Homeless World Cup kicked off in Copenhagen with a bang and the beat of samba music as 48 countries and 500 players led a parade from the Dan Hostel to the town hall square. They really let the people of Copenhagen know that the Homeless World Cup had arrived.
