Thomson Financial is supporting the 2007 Homeless World Cup by sponsoring the India Team and sending 40 TF volunteers to help out at the event in Copenhagen.
This is the first year that India has participated in the Homeless World Cup. To show their appreciation of our support, the team sent us the letter below to say thank you.
Dear Thomson Financial
Indian Slum dwellers have never had a chance to play football on such a big international level.
People who would otherwise never get a chance to step out of their low surroundings are today getting a chance because of your support and coordination. This will change their lives definitely.
Our team consists of people like a rickshaw puller, a street paper vendor and an ex-drug addict. All will be playing international football thanks to you.
We have started to see the impact on the player’s lives already. They are now talking about getting an education and getting better jobs.
As a result, we are compelled to think about other ideas to ensure their support. We are thinking about starting a community college for people like this.
It is sure that the Homeless World Cup will be a turning point in life, not just for the current participants but many more in years to come.
