K.V.S.N. Slum Soccer Covers Newer Territories

Keeping with its mandate of expanding to hitherto un-reached areas. Prof Barse embarked on a two state visit, the response he is getting promises more such trips in future.

Naval Masih Memorial 1st Slum Soccer Tournament was held at School Ground Ujjain (M.P.). Out of the 4 competing slums Valmiki Slum emerged as the winner. 4 Players from this tournament will be attending the 2nd Selection Trial at Nagpur from 25th to 27th July 2008. The tournament was followed by prize distribution and interaction with players, during which counseling was given to the participants regarding education employment etc. An AIDS awareness talk was also given by Mr. Masih (Director, Nobel Education Society). The program was well received by local media and was shown on NDTV a nation wide channel.

A similar program was also conducted in Chamola in Rajasthan and 1st Slum Soccer Tournament was held under auspices of local social workers and sportsperson. Nearly 50 players participated in this tournament. Once again trophies and medals were given to outstanding players. Awareness and Counseling program was also held for the participants.

First round of talks were held in Indore another major city in M.P. to organize local level tournaments. At the end of this program local organizing committee was nominated which will be conducting local level tournaments in the first week of August.
