1st Selection Trial for Homeless World Cup—India team Held

The first phase of selection trials of Indian Team were completed at St. Ursula Football Field Nagpur, from 5th to 7 July 2008.
These selection trials were conducted for the players selected out of the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Zhopadpatti Football Tournament which was held during January in Rajura dt. Chandrapur.
Players coming out of 6 states attended this selection camp, namely states of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Assam and Vidarbha.
An expert panel of Slum Football Referees & Coaches profiled the players for their unique abilities. At the end of this camp out of 40 players only 20 were selected. These players will again undergo a coaching and selection camp during this month end.
