Finding their 'way home' on the football field

All the players are vendors of OCF’s streetpaper ‘Way Home’ as street soccer now forms an essential part of the OCF’s homeless programme.

The charity has discovered that football is an ideal way of connecting with people that might otherwise fall through the net. Many players involved have overcome addictions, found employment, secured housing and returned to education. Ukraine’s thrilling run to third place in Edinburgh, including an epic two-legged semi final clash with Italy, left the team confident of success in Cape Town. Once again the Golden Shoe winner from the 2004 Homeless World Cup, Evgeniy Adamenko, coaches the side and with his experience Ukraine were certainly a team to beat in Cape Town, and looks like their success will run on in Copenhagen. Expect to see them in the top groupings.
