GYPA, the organisers of the Uganda Homeless World Cup squad, will be the recipient of 15 bikes for it's youth programs and Homeless World Cup Team. GYPA will support 88Bikes effort to purchase and bring the remaining bikes to Northern Uganda to the Patongo School. Jeremy Goldman reports:

A few weeks ago I received an email through and then a phone call about an intriguing endeavor headed up by renowned, Brooklyn based film maker, Dan Austin. My passion for sports as a tool for social change was overflowing after the call. I learned that earlier this year Dan had successfully organized, fundraised and delivered bikes (with all the necessary accessories and training) to an orphanage in Cambodia. His organization, 88Bikes was born.

The partnership grew out of Dan's "joy based" approach to philanthropy. His approach is incremental, and is already making an impact in assisting young people with a mode of transportation, an income-generating tool, while encouraging Independence and healthy living. I was thrilled when Dan approached me and asked if we might want to work with them to bring 88Bikes to Uganda later this month.

GYPA accepted, and we will be the recipient of 15 bikes for it's youth programs and Homeless World Cup Team. GYPA will support 88Bikes effort to purchase and bring the remaining bikes to Northern Uganda to the Patongo School. This school is featured in the renowned documentary film, "War Dance" ( www.wardancethemovie.com), Directed by friend of 88Bikes, Sean Fine. Check out this incredible doc. if you've not yet done so!
