The Global Youth Partnership for Africa is a non-profit organisation dedicated to fostering understanding, appreciation, and respect between young American and African leaders: tomorrow's global decision-makers. GYPA's catalytic programs offer the unique opportunity for African youth to engage directly with one another in grassroots development projects, cultural exchanges, and peace-building efforts.
Since 2006, Girls Kick It has used football to tackle inequality between young women and men, and enable young girls and women to become empowered in their lives and in their community.
Girls Kick It identified Northern Uganda as the location for its programs due to the effects the more than twenty-four year civil war has on young girls and women. Through soccer, Girls Kick It provides healthy opportunities; both mental and physical, as a way to encourage self-empowerment, team-building, education and activism.
