Team Timor-Leste will make their debut at the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup. The program has been set up by Life, Love and Health; a registered Australian charity organised by Luke Gosling which runs from the capital, Dili, managed by the local manager Antonio Amaral da Silva. The word homeless is not used in Timor as due to extensive kinship ties, all Timorese can find a place to sleep, if only a floor space or four to a bed. However it is the street sellers who are the working poor, not unemployed but putting in long hours selling phone cards, fruit and newspapers for a few dollars a day. These street kids have formed the basis of a team and it is intended to lead to an ongoing football project for these and other excluded youth in Dili, at the same time raising awareness of their plight through the media. Given football's strong support throughout the country the aim it to give Timorese youth a focus and an aspiration to participate. World Ranking: Debut
