Participants since the first Homeless World Cup the Swiss team arrive at the Homeless World Cup after a grueling selection process and a high level summer training schedule. They want to honour the name of their street paper; 'Surprise'! Final Position: Milan 2009 - 38th; Melbourne 2008 - did not partecipate; Copenhagen 2007 - 48th; Cape Town 2006 - 38th; Edinburgh 2005 - 15th; Gothenburg 2004 - 24th; Graz 2003 - 18th

1st Referee Course With Former FIFA Ref Nicole Petignat
To get enough well instructed referees for our national league Surprise Strassensport organised the first Homeless Referee Course with the Head of the Homeless Worldcup Referees Gerhard Holzmann, former Swiss FIFA referee Nicole Petignat and about 15 participants.

The players are drawn from across German speaking Switzerland. The national team is formed of the Swiss champion of the national Surprise Strassensport League (2009: FC Glattwägs United) and some players from last years champion Surprise Toblerone Bern. The sporting project run by Surprise Street Paper.
