STIRLING WORK BY STREET SOCCER DUO
Posted by Scotland - 06.06.2011
Two talented young footballers earned the opportunity to trial with a senior Scottish football club this weekend.
Stirling Albion FC of the Scottish Second Division invited Liam Forbes and Sean Lawrence, both members of the Street Soccer Scotland setup, for trials at their Forthbank home ground on Saturday.
Speedy left winger Liam represented Scotland at the Rio 2010 Homeless World Cup, scoring the winning goal in an 11-10 victory over England. The 23-year-old from Livingstone now works as a coach for Street Soccer Scotland.
The talent of defender Sean, 20, became apparent as he took part in a recent Street Soccer trial day in Glasgow. The youngster hopes to represent Scotland at the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup in August.
Speaking at the trials David Duke, CEO of Street Soccer Scotland said: “Both players performed admirably in the trial matches and will find out in the coming weeks if they have been selected to join the Stirling Albion squad for their pre-season programme.
“Liam and Sean have both worked really hard and deserve this opportunity so it’s been great to see them out there giving their best. This is a very proud day for Street Soccer Scotland.”
