Lisbon is the Portuguese Streetsoccer Championship 07 winner

The Final of the National Streetsoccer Champioship 07, organized for the third time by CAIS Association, took place in Lousã, from the 5th to the 7th June.

The Championship brought together 14 teams, which represented the following portuguese districts: Bragança, Oporto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Azores, Santarém, Évora, Madeira, Faro, Leiria, Setúbal, Beja, Lisbon and Viana Castelo. In the overall, there were represented 12 districts, from the 18 portuguese districts, and the two islands (Azores and Madeira).

For the third time, the winner was Lisbon, represented in this championship by Moinho da Juventude Association. Oporto came in second and Faro in third. The Fair-Play trophy was awarded to Setúbal and Aveiro was considered the best cheer.

Besides contributing for the autoesteem of the players, the Championship had also the objective of choosing the team that will represent Portugal in the Homeless World Cup fifth edition.

This year, the Portuguese Streetsoccer Championship involved 110 NGOs, 130 teams, 1040 players, 14 distritcs and 60 borroughs, which corresponds to a growth of 50%, in comparison with last year.

Thanks to this growth in participation, CAIS has contributed to the expansion of this project at a national level and to the social integration of women and men suffering from poverty and exclusion, using soccer’s positive power and its strong propability of reaching media’s attention.
