A Star is Born?

The team, organised by the CAIS Association’s Futbal de Rua project, draws on players from right the way across Portugal.
All have experienced homelessness and problems with social exclusion. The Futbal de Rua project recognizes that beyond finding a stable home people also need to develop stable emotional backgrounds and football is a powerful way of encouraging just that.
The success of the project was shown at Portugal’s 2006 Street Soccer Championship. A staggering 800 players, 80 organisations and 12 regions took part in the event. This year's tournament will be even better.
João Barnabé, who discovered Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo coaches the players so you can expect them to be at their peak during the Homeless World Cup. Perhaps João has discovered his next star? We'll find out in Copenhagen....expect Portugal to shine.
