Team Philippines makes its debut at the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup, organized by Urban Opportunities for Change Foundation, Inc., which publishes the Jeepney Magazine in Manila. Four players from the Tuloy sa Don Bosco Streetchildren Village in Muntinlupa City and an equal number from the Nayon ng Kabataan of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Mandaluyong City, compose the team. The team is privileged to be coached by Marlon Maro, former RP women's head coach, and Jess Landagan, who played on several Philippine teams in the '70s. Our players comprise the most desperate example of societies need to change and the most miraculous opportunity to facilitate that change. They are excited to see the world outside their barangay!
