The Homeless World Cup partner in Paraguay is Fundacion Paraguaya, one of the largest non-profit organizations in Paraguay.
Organisation- Fundacion Paraguaya
Fundacion Paraguaya's mission is to develop and implement practical, innovative and sustainable solutions that eliminate poverty and create decent living conditions for every family. Fundación Paraguaya has 27 years of experience in microfinance, 17 years of experience in youth financial & entrepreneurial education—both as the representative of Junior Achievement in Paraguay and through its own entrepreneurial education and financial literacy programs--and 10 years of experience combining these two areas of expertise in the development and implementation of a new model of technical/vocation training for low-income youth, the Financially Self-Sufficient (FSS) school. The Fundación currently runs four schools in Paraguay which follow the FSS School model and is providing technical assistance to some 50 schools in Latin America and Africa which are adopting the model. Since October 2011, the Fundación is also established in Tanzania, Africa, where the FSS School model is being replicated in 25 secondary schools across the country. Within the FSS Schools program of the Fundación, they are actively promoting the Homeless World Cup program in all of our schools in Paraguay. Football is the king sport in the country and consequently, the 300+ youth in our schools, who come from very low-income families, are very eager to participate. Their first participation in the Homeless World Cup was in South Africa in 2006, and since then, we have sent 4 other teams to the tournaments in Melbourne (2008), Rio de Janeiro (2010), Paris (2011) and Mexico (2012).
