Meet Olayiwola Oyegunle Daniel from Nigeria

Posted by Nigeria - 04/07/2007

Olayiwola Oyegunle Daniel, squats with friends, and is under the threat of eviction by the landlord. He was at the Cape Town 2006 Homeless World Cup and says his experience was fantastic in helping him achieve his dream of being a responsible member of society.

He was unemployed before the Homeless World Cup but now has a part–time job with Search and Groom since his return from South Africa in September 2006. He relishes his present status in Mushin (where he squats) as members of the community treat him with respect, having played at the Homeless World Cup and was seen in Nigeria’s matches being shown on T.V stations, including the revered Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) which beams across to 50 million homes. "The Homeless World Cup revealed my hidden identity and I remain very appreciative of this fact. I pray to see this tournament grow from strength to strength."
