Gearing up for Nigeria Cup finals in July

In preparation for Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup Street Soccer League Cup (SSLC) Preliminary matches are going on in all Search and Groom project centers to choose teams that will qualify for the Street Soccer League Cup (SSLC). Finals which will take place in July at AstroTURF, Ikoyi, Lagos.

This preliminary stage features 54 teams with 10 players in each team playing to qualify for the SSLC finals where the team that will represent Nigeria at the Homeless World Cup will be selected.

With 10 teams coming from Ajegunle, 14 teams from Abesan, 10 teams from Agege, 10 teams from Ikeja and 10 teams from Ibadan, 10 teams from Ikorodu alongside their overwhelming street soccer fans; all competing to be part of the teams to qualify for the tournament, this year’s edition of the Street Soccer League Cup promises to be more competitive, challenging and creative.

The uniqueness of this League is that all participants in this league must contribute to their community by rendering community service such as traffic control, cleaning of the environment & assisting elderly ones in their locality.

To expand our youth development network in Nigeria; Ikorodu and Ibadan centres have been launched.
