Team Nigeria is organised by Search and Groom. They began the street soccer programme in 2004 operating from Lagos and reaching communities Ajegunle, Abesan, Agege, Ikeja and Ibadan and Ikorodu. They involve 110 teams with 1320 street youths who are homeless and addressing drug rehabilitation. The uniqueness of the Nigerian Street Soccer League for Social Inclusion is that all participants in this league must contribute to their community by rendering community service such as traffic control, cleaning of the environment & assisting elderly people in their locality. Known for their firey temperament Team Nigeria will go all out to win the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup. World Ranking: Copenhagen 2007 - 5th; Cape Town 8th

Gearing up for Nigeria Cup finals in July

In preparation for Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup Street Soccer League Cup (SSLC) Preliminary matches are going on in all Search and Groom project centers to choose teams that will qualify for the Street Soccer League Cup (SSLC). Finals which will take place in July at AstroTURF, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Meet Olayiwola Oyegunle Daniel from Nigeria

Olayiwola Oyegunle Daniel, squats with friends, and is under the threat of eviction by the landlord. He was at the Cape Town 2006 Homeless World Cup and says his experience was fantastic in helping him achieve his dream of being a responsible member of society.

The Ones To Watch
