Team New Zealand is organised by Street Football Aotearoa, a Charitable Trust developing grassroots football projects for homeless and excluded people. The Trust is currently working with the New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness and partner agencies in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
We provide opportunities for fitness and football training for homeless and socially marginalised people. We also aim to highlight the issues of homelessness and exclusion and to provide financial support for selected players to represent New Zealand at the Homeless World Cup.
Our vision is to develop an extensive network of projects enabling the largest possible number of socially excluded New Zealanders to have the opportunity to play sport and enjoy its physical, psychological, and social benefits. We aim to use the power of sport to inspire people to reach their full potential.
