Team New Zealand is organised by Street Football Aotearoa, a Charitable Trust developing grassroots football projects for homeless and excluded people. The Trust is currently working with the New Zealand Coalition to End Homelessness and partner agencies in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Team New Zealand was a debutant in Melbourne and returned from the tournament with their heads held high, having been awarded the Best Newcomers trophy. Final Position: Melbourne 2008 - 40th.

WELLINGTON WIN STREET FOOTBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Wellington's Street Football team took the honours in Saturday's Street Football National Championships. The inaugural tournament saw teams representing Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and the Capital compete as part of Wellington City Council's Festival of Football - a curtain-raiser for the All Whites World Cup Qualifier.

Festival of Football

Football is alive in Wellington, and as part of Wellington City Council’s Festival of Football for the FIFA under 17 Women’s World Cup, Wellingtonians had the opportunity to support Street Football Aotearoa through a fundraising street football competition and film screening.
