AMSTERDAM HOSTS NETHERLANDS FINALS

The national finals of the Dutch Homeless Cup will be held at the heart of the Amsterdam this weekend.

The two-day event takes place in Dam Square from 29-30 August with more than 500 players participating.

Organised in conjunction with the KNVB (The Dutch Football Association) the Dutch Homeless Cup operates in 36 cities and with a large network of professional football clubs.

Mel Young, President and co-Founder of the Homeless World Cup is attending the finals this weekend, he said; “I’m looking forward to what I know will be a great day of football and a brilliant atmosphere.

“The Dutch Homeless World Cup is a progressive organisation engaging an increasing number of men and women across the Netherlands and great example of the fantastic work being done by our network of more than 70 national partners.

“I look forward to visiting many more of them in the future.”

Players drawn from this weekend’s tournament will be selected to represent the Netherlands at the Paris 2011 Homeless World Cup and Women’s Homeless World Cup next month.
