Team Kazakhstan is organised by Baspana (‘Roof Above Your Head’), the only initiative of its kind to help homeless people in Kazakhstan. The side reached the final in their Homeless World Cup debut in Cape Town 2006, presenting a side with a stunning defense and precision goal scoring, and played live to the whole of South Africa on SABC. They returned home to a hero's welcome and media frenzy to draw in further support for their project. World Ranking: Copenhagen 2007 - 9th; Cape Town 2006 - 2nd

As you probably remember, last year our team took a silver prize and made a big sensation in local mass media. This year the interest of our target groups to participate in Baspana's tournament was incredible high.

All the players with Kazakhstan have had experience of homelessness, many because laws in Kazakhstan prevent people from moving from their place of birth.
