Homeless Team Letter from Denmark (From Tung) 29/7 - 3/8 (Updated on 3/8/07 HKT 15:44)
Letter 1 (29/7)
We are in Denmark for 2 days safely. We have come for about 20 hours flight. All the players were too tired since they could not sleep well. They came to hostel in Denmark at about 9:30pm and found no food left. As we have experience, we have enough Cup Noodle. Then we have a very good sleep. Today we prepare for tomorrow assemble & draw for tomorrow game. We will play for the first game about 1:20PM (Denmark time). The team members are waiting for the game & learning the song of our country for tomorrow. Hoping the best team win each games. Today the team members are learning better discipline.
Letter 2 (30/7)
Yesterday we lost the game at 5:7 towards Spain. All the players, including coach, were disappointed with the result since they finally admitted that they looked down on Spain team. (They are Older & weaker & with 1 girl) They prefer to have free time to release themselves today. Our dinner is under-cooker rice (the first time we eat rice here). We totally cannot accept with this kind of rice. About 4 members eat the bad taste rice with banana. Finally, we have an in-depth meeting with all the players and coach from 8:30pm-11:00pm. It is tired but worthwhile. All the players participate with the positive suggestion. Thank god that Miss Ho (our coach) ask all the players to evaluate themselves at the very beginning. Then they cannot complain with each other, although they still have conflict between members & some anti-rules situation. However, we have an open, direct & deep discussion between players, worker and coach. We hope that better understanding & self-expectation can be done in process. In fact to mix two teams of people is quite difficult. It is hoped that our effort from players, coach, worker can help. Hope our team can have their best motivation from each player.
Letter 3 (31/7)
We have lost the first 3 games. vs Spain: 5:7 vs Germany: 5:7 vs Poland 2:12 In fact we have 2 chances to sharing with other 2 countries. We seek another chance to share with the third countries in this week. However, on our second game, we find that we win back our spirit and energy. And, we have all reserve team member to join the football game. There are some conflicts between 2 players. We think that it needs time and open-mind, some kind of understanding to fix it soon. It needs more talks. Tomorrow, we will have game 4 on 15:20pm with Netherlands. Then we will have game 5 at 7:00pm if we win, at 7:20pm if we lose. So it depends on our result of game 4. Keep on support us.
Letter 4 (1/8)
Thanks. I can feel your heart even we are so far away, through your touching wording, email, etc. You are always in my mind...... Yesterday was the best day since we had been in Denmark, because of Angle cry (Miss Ho) & all of your strong support. Thanks god's arrangement. The team spirit was so good although the 2 games were lost. In fact we had many chances but we were too eager to have goals. Today will be our winning day. At 1:40pm, we will have HK vs Switzerland, At 4:20pm, we will have HK vs Sweden. We will go for Shipping today with sunshine after raining for a week. I have to write out your (Wai Chi) great article to all team members. They may get something. Looking forwards to share with U. We are going to some special beach too. HaHa.
Letter 5 (2/8)
Hi, we won Sweden yesterday for 5:0.(Sixth game) It was great not because we won, but since they found encouragment, joyful, proof of their commitment, & sharing idea of 'Never Give Up'. Even we have lost the seventh games (4:6 vs Swiss), the team spirit is great since they begin to know how to play. They are more willing to communicate with & encourage each other. They enjoy the Homeless World Cup very much, not because of our direct interaction. Although there is conflict between players, they can fix it by themselves and are no need to involve me, coach and captain. In nightime, we enjoy dancing, but not enough girls, I will try my best next time. Today we have 3 games: 11:00 Chile vs HK 12:20 India vs HK 7:00 Australia vs HK We still need your support. Letter 6 (3/8)
Wake up at 6:00am as normal here. We have already played 10 games & we get win 2 and lose 8. Yesterday Vs Chile we lost at 2:7 Vs India we had 5:5, won at penalty, Vs Australia we had 3:3, lost at penalty. We are happy since Australia, Uganda, Nigeria, Germany, etc always support us (HK). For our spirit, the general spirit is good. Today is a Sunny day. We hope that we can go somewhere to have a look, haha. For the final 3 games, if we win, we will be the Champion of this final group. Today we have 2 games 1:20 VS Kyrgyzstan If we win, we will play at 5:00 If we lose, we will play at 5:40 here. We can hear your support. I hope that they can win the spirit, communication & result. After 7 days, they become a group, with strong ability to deal with problem by themselves. Specially the captain Joe, coach, Alex, players give great idea to participate with us. We enjoy here & Missing U so Much!!!
