Meet Eugene Boye Lomotey from Ghana
Posted by Ghana - 04/07/2007
Eugene will star in the national team from Ghana in Copenhagen. He became homeless due to unemployment since on leaving school there was no chance for him to secure a job.
Eugene moved to the city, Accra to look for work, he had no relatives there and no place to sleep. He ended up on the street moving from one place to other trying to find a job. He is now in one of the hostels organised by Gimat Volunteer Network, organisers of the Ghana national Homeless World Cup team and he is now working hard to learn a trade so he will be able to become self-employed.
Eugen said, "I have always wished to travel and now my dream has come true to go to the Homeless World Cup in Denmark. I am now a star! When I am jogging for my training, people stop and say 'look you are the the boy whose photo appeared in the magazine. I am a national hero, and have acheievd what most people never get to do, to represent my country in an international tournament. I thank the organisers of the Homeless World Cup and all the sponsors that make this possible for us all."
