More than 30 homeless, socially endangered or excluded people are included in a team during one year. They are mainly youngish males under the age of 50. They get access to necessary psychosocial support and help in planning and implementating life changing goals.
Twice a year preparation and selection tournaments are organized for players, as well as 10 other tournaments.
In 2012, the team also took part in the international tournaments in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. The Croatian Homeless Team first participated in the Homeless World Cup in Milan, Italy, in 2009. Their best result was in Paris, France, where they finished 22nd overall.
The project Croatian Homeless Team draws huge national media interest so croation citizens are more aware of homeless issues. It also raises the awareness of the right for dignified living and is a project that encourages, through positive sport influence, social inclusion for all.
