The all girls’ side for Colombia have now had their pre-selection for the team that will make Colombia’s grand debut at the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup.

The team is made up of women and girls who are or have been homeless at one stage of their life.

Some of these women even had to survive by being sexual workers on the streets. All of these women who have been rescued from the streets are now attending rehabilitation programs.

The Street Soccer development programs and rehabilitation involves education, housing and drug rehabilitation for socially excluded people across Colombia.

Colombia’s program has taken off since last year. Many of the women in last year’s street soccer team have now completed rehabilitation activities.

We wish Colombia all the best for their debut at Melbourne this year!
