With the Homeless World Cup in their own backyard this year, Team Australia, nicknamed the Street Socceroos are training with a great sense of purpose and excitement. There are currently Street Soccer Programs running in: Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane and Geelong with The Big Issue in Australia developing programs in thirty locations nationwide in the next three years. We’re expecting strong crowd support at the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup and the atmosphere promises to be electric. No doubt the team will get help singing their theme song Waltzing Matilda but travelling teams will also get great support from sports-mad Australians. World Rankings: Edinburgh 2005 - 7th (Best Newcomer); Copenhagen 2007 - 43rd; Cape Town 2006 - 43rd
