25-27 July 2008, Nagpur: The Indian Slum Soccer team is one step closer to being finalized with completion of the second selection camp. This final phase of selection was successfully completed at the St. Ursula School Football Pitch on the 27th July.
20 players selected out of 40 from the first selection camp were assessed for their game as well as off the ground behavior. This brings to an end the yearly cycle in which tournaments are conducted first at city level then at state level and finally concluded at national level. It is here that the 40 players for the international tournament were selected to go through.
12 players have now been nominated for the Indian team out which only 8 will be going to Melbourne, Australia for the 6th Homeless World Cup. The players will be going through documentation and passport process now to complete their opportunity to attend.
