IN A GAME that pitted green and gold against gold and green, South Africa beat Australia 7-3 at Fed Square stadium this morning.
Both teams showed fantastic defence, with only one goal in the first half by Ethen Thys for South Africa.
Street Socceroo Eddy Halid made two great plays for goal, but couldn't quite find the back of the net.
The second half saw both teams struggling to score at first, but at the 3:30 mark, South Africa extended their lead with another goal.
Australia was disappointed after they scored a penalty only for the referee to order the kick retaken. Coen Slaughter was shattered when he missed the second penalty attempt.
Stevie Maloney fired up for Australia and became quite aggressive, showing great speed and attack.
South Africa displayed a tight assault, and Thapelo Moses Kalpens proved his strength, helping South Africa to get away cleanly and dominate the rest of the game. They celebrated the win with a spirited dance on the field.
