Wales v England

Wales (4) v England (4)

Wales win on penalties. And were they happy about that? ****ing Yes!

A match begun with real patience - a moment when Wales passed it back and forth across the goal area, the Welsh striker screaming for the ball but not getting the pass until there was the opening.

Patience, but no goals. Then after almost four minutes a penalty for Wales breaks the deadlock. And a speck of rain, first of the day, falls.

Wales extend their lead, after a long ball out of defence, the Wales 14 spinning and directing the ball into the net. Then in no time its 3-0 to Wales, the English keeper sprawling as the ball bounces over him.

Wales have grown in confidence, their number 14 almost scoring the goal of the game with a chip saved only by the England post.

England make changes for the second half and it takes immediate effect. Fantastic skill from their number 9, working hard to keep possession against the hoardings, turning to pass and make the assist for England to pull a goal back.

The game is getting more physical, and then Wales score once more to keep their three goal lead. Another well-worked team goal from England takes them to 4 - 2, and a double penalty save from the England keeper keeps them in touch.

Another substitution works in England's favour, with an England goal taking them into the final minute with a few seconds chance to level. Gone is the calm patience that the game started with, as England rifles in a fourth to make it 4 - 4. Incredible final moments.

Down to penalties. A wide second shot from England, Wales score theirs, and Wales have it, and don't they know it.
