Ukraine has won their third match in the 2008 Homeless World Cup with a 6-3 win over Malawi.
Pure determination from both teams was obvious with a fierce start to the match. The contest was so tight that there was no scoring for the first 90 seconds of the game.
Uganda managed to break away from the Malawi defence and Nikitin Andriy scored an impressive opening goal from a tight corner angle.
Passing the ball back and forth to confuse the opposition, Ukraine continued to dominate with four consecutive goals.
Malawi was awarded a penalty shot just before the half-time whistle, but failed to convert, leaving the half-time scores at 4-0.
The teams went strongly into the second half but it was Ukraine who scored the first goal, taking their lead to 5-0 over Malawi.
Malawi never gave up and their chase towards a goal ended in success with Donald Richard scoring at the three minute mark. The crowd erupted and it was clear to see that Malawi gained motivation from the shot, with Richard following up with a second goal in the next minute.
Ukraine stepped up their defence, ensuring they were always one step ahead of their opposition, and took another effortless goal.
Malawi’s Richard netted a final goal in the last 30 seconds, but it wasn't enough to take down Ukraine.
This victory places Ukraine in second place in Group B, with Malawi chasing them in fourth place.
