Ukraine v Hungary

Ukraine (9) v (2) Hungary

Quite what the newlyweds filing out of the Town Hall make of the spectacle in front of them is still to be recorded, but one thing is certain, this Homeless World Cup is building some long-term relationships of its own. Ukraine and Hungary were the latest sides to show the spirit of friendship that has marked the tournament and as with all the competitions, this round of Copenhagen trophy matches ended with a prize giving to all the teams which only underlined the mutual respect.

The Ukrainians pulled off a one-sided victory here. As ever, if a team can build a quick early lead it makes it extremely tough for their opponents to bounce back - the Ukraine No.20 Roman Ostapenko was to the fore in the early stages, smacking in four goals including one delicious volley from a quick-witted chipped pass. Hungary had a hand in their troubles though, consistently failing to keep a close enough eye on the movement of the opposing striker.

Ukraine had the luxury of allowing their smaller, trickier players a run-out in the second half; the result was the same. They added three more goals to Hungary's one in the final period and wasted a hatful of other opportunities as the fleet-footed No.3 tried everything he could to bang a backheel for an expectant crowd. That was one blossoming relationship left unconsummated though; and there was no news as of press time on the brides and grooms sharing their special day with the HWC.
