Ghana defeated Ukraine 9-4 at the first game of the quarter finals of the Homeless World Cup today at Federation Square.

Both teams came out strongly in attack and defending well when the ball was taken out of their play.

The first goal was scored for Ghana by Richard Storm Saban with a brilliant punt into the corner of the net.

This was followed closely by a goal for Ukraine from striker Ganko Oleksandr.

Ukraine's Igor, Andriy and Simoroz spent a lot of time around the goal area passing between their players and looking for an opening that would provide a potential goal.

Ghana's goalkeeper was ducking and diving, throwing himself at the ball and putting up a strong wall that made it difficult for Ukraine to have an open shot at goals.

Ghana put together an impressive set of plays between Saban and Bismark Brako, passing between the two of them until they created an opening to shoot for goal.

Ukraine was putting up a strong defence to counteract Ghana's impressive play but unfortunately when they had the chance their shots fell wide.

The score at halftime was 5-1 to Ghana.

Ukraine came back with a bang and Igor scored two goals in under two minutes of the second half.

He was then given a blue card which meant Ukraine played with only two players for the next two minutes of the game.

Ghana's players were determined and strong throughout the match and fought hard for a place to continue on into the finals.

Their 9-4 victory sets Ghana up well for a shot a the Homeless World Cup trophy.
