Timor Leste defeated Canada, 9 – 2, with an impressive performance in front of a big crowd at Federation Square.

With a blistering 8 goals to 1 in the second half, Timor Leste sealed victory.

The play in the first half was end-to-end football, with opportunities for both sides to score.

However, inaccurate finishing kept the score to 1- 1, with Timor Leste's  Sequeira and Canada's Pagonis converting the only goals.

The side boards around the pitch were getting plenty of exercise, with both teams using the walls to kick and rebound the ball against to try and find opportunities in a defensive match.

It seemed the game would continue in similar fashion with Timor Leste's da Silva scoring, only for Canada's goal hanging Pagonis to reply.

With the score at 2-2, Timor Leste were spurred into action, piling on 7 goals in quick succession to seal the match.

Timor Leste's fast paced passing and skilled tackling allowed them to dominate the possession and use their opportunities to score.

Freitas, Da Silva Faria, da Silva and Asquiel all contributed to the final score.

The shot of the match came from Da Silva Faria with a wonderful strike from within the left hand corner of the pitch to somehow find the top right hand corner of the net.

Australian reserve player Normy was gallant as keeper for Canada but could only shake his head in admiration for the Timor Leste team's skills.

Timor Leste's Da Silva drove the attacking in the first half and finished with an outstanding four goal performance.
