ETHIOPIA has won against Sweden today in a thrilling match-up of two crowd favourites.
The score at the full time whistle was 8-13, although Sweden put up a strong fight.
While Sweden scored the first goal of the game, Ethiopia dominated the game early in the match, scoring 4 goals in the first 5 minutes. Their strong attack kept them in front for the first half, even against the brute strength of Daniel Roman Gomonal. Jim Nygaard managed to net two goals for Sweden, but at half time Ethiopia had a strong lead of 3-6.
The second half saw Sweden launch a strong attack for the ball, and they managed to make a tremendous effort. Nygaard continued showing his strength and agility, handling the ball well and kicking another two goals for Sweden, but there was really no match for Ethiopia's leading goal scorers.
At the end of the game, the crowd showed fantastic support for both teams, with Ethiopia getting a rousing cheer when announced victors.
The win puts Ethiopia in fourth place in Group C.
