Structure

Headquarters

The Headquarters, based in Edinburgh, Scotland, is responsible for developing the internationally recognised football tournament, and triggering and partnering with national grass roots projects that work with people who are homeless all year round. It looks after the global brand and media to raise awareness of the key issues and challenge attitudes whilst fundraising for development and organising research to demonstrate the power of sport changing lives. The sports committee maintains the competition rules and ensures the standards of the tournament remains high.

Local Organising Committee

Through a bidding process the headquarters selects the host city for each annual international tournament.  The host city, such as Melbourne 2008, sets up a local organising committee responsible for financing, implementing and hosting the international tournament and ensuring maximum legacy benefit.

Local Grass Roots Projects

The Homeless World Cup has triggered the establishment of over 50 local grass roots projects working with people who are homeless and excluded all year round.  Each partner project is responsible for organising regular training programmes and an annual tournament or trials to elect the team representing their nation. You can find out more about all the local grass roots projects here.
