South Africa (7) v (10) Nigeria

Nigeria has defeated South Africa 10-7 in an all-African clash to sit equal on points with Scotland in Group B in the secondary group stage.

South Africa had dominated possession early on, but the first two goals went to Nigeria after Shola Jacob made the most of two opportunities to score against the run of play.

South Africa bounced straight back though, with only one pass required for Luvuyo Mehlo to score his first goal of the match.

A great individual run by Lukmon Jimoh set him up to score the first of his five goal haul for the match.

Even though Mehlo was able to complete his hat-trick within the first half, the South Africans went into the break a goal down.

South Africa then had to equalise three times early in the second half with some great goals to Thapelo Kalpens, Sicelo Mraji and another to Mehlo.

But Nigeria was able to take the lead again on each occasion with goals to Jimoh and Saheed Yakub.

The goal of the match had to be awarded to Jimoh with his spectacular volley from the sideline which left the South African goalkeeper without a hope.

Jimoh capped off a great individual match with the final goal from the top of the circle.

The win leaves Nigeria fighting for pole position in Group B with Scotland.
